De Santis Law Center is a law office in Chula Vista, CA that specializes in car accidents and maritime law. With a transition in leadership looming, I was asked to help create a new direction for their existing brand.
A family name with roots in Italy, "De Santis" is Old Latin that translates to "of the saints". To continue with saints being the central theme, I wanted the icon to carry connotations of Catholicism and Renaissance-era basilicas (as the family is Roman Catholic) by depicting a stained-glass window. Within the icon lies the scales of justice, tying family lineage with family purpose. The typeface (Roma) harkens back to a time before the fall of Ancient Rome.
Finally, the green used in the mark is a call back of the green in the Italian flag. That particular green was to be too sharp of a hue, so a decision was made to use a shade of green that was more modern and better suited for a corporate setting. (2021)
